APAI Specifications

Local Guide Specification
APAI’s Local Guide Specification provides a narrative of Section 402 of the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Standard Specifications and how it can used for specifying asphalt pavements for local governments and non-governmental applications. References incorporate the latest asphalt pavement technologies. It attempts to present the best practices, procedures and processes but is not intended to replace sound engineering knowledge, judgment and experience.

Thin Asphalt Overlay Specification
APAI’s Thin Asphalt Overlay Specification provides guidance on when to choose thin overlays, how to select materials and design the mixes, construction and quality control, and what type of performance benefits to expect. Thin asphalt overlays are popular approaches to pavement preservation because of their ability to provide improved ride quality, reduce pavement distresses, maintain surface geometrics, reduce noise levels, reduce life cycle costs and provide long-lasting service.

Porous Asphalt Specification
APAI’s Porous Asphalt Specification provides direction on specifying porous pavement with considerations for design, construction, and maintenance. Porous pavements are cost-effective, attractive pavements with a life span of more than twenty years that at the same times provides storm-water managements systems that promote infiltration, improved water quality, and eliminate the need for a detention basin.
